Our Horseback rides are designed to showcase the natural beauty of Graves Mountain, the valley of Syria, the orchards and mountains. You will cross streams, open fields and woodlands. We offer one hour, half-day and full-day rides every day at Graves Mountain Lodge. We also provide lead line rides for children.
Begin the day by arriving at Graves Mountain Lodge office 30 minutes prior to ride time to receive your horseback ride ticket. Riders will then proceed to the stables where they will be matched to the appropriate horse and adjust tack. Advance reservations are required for all rides especially for weekends and peak time in October.
Hour Long Rides – $40.00 per person
Hourly Rides Leave At: 9:30am, 11:00am, 1:30pm, 3:00pm, 5:00pm
Half-Day Rides – $115.00 per person, 4-person minimum, 3 hours.
Departures from the stables at 9:30am and 1:30pm
Full-Day Rides – $220.00 per person, 4 person minimum, 6 hours.
Departures from the stable at 9:30 A.M. Lunch on the trail.
Pony Rides and Lead Lines – $5 per child – (scheduled at stables between trail rides)

Graves Mountain Apple Harvest Festival. Come and see nature’s way of blanketing the mountains with stunning color during the month of October. Enjoy fun filled days complete with good Food and Entertainment including Bluegrass Music, Cloggers, over 70 Arts and Crafts Vendors, Hayrides, Hay Mountain, Hay Maze and Horseback & Pony Rides. Experience the days of yesteryear watching apple butter being cooked in kettles over and open fire. Our orchards are open for apple picking or you may select your own from the apple bins at the picnic pavilion. On your way to the orchard, stop by and visit the farm and the animals–goats, pigs, cows, peacocks, rabbit, chickens and more.

Lunch is served in the festival area and reservations are not required. Home cooked meals will be served in the covered picnic pavilion each Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 AM – 4:30 PM or as long as the food stores hold out!
The menu will be:
Brunswick Stew, Cornbread, Apple Butter, Applesauce and Apple cider.
Hamburgers, Hotdogs, Pork Barbecue, French Fries, Apple Pie….
Also sold at places other than the main food line:
Funnel Cakes, Apple Butter Donuts, Fried Apple Slices, Apple Cinnamon Ice Cream, Soft Serve Ice Cream, Apple Pies, Pork Rinds, Apple Slices with Caramel Sauce and more!!!
Meals at the Lodge:
At the Main Lodge, lunch is served from 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM, dinner from 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM. Reservations are required and seating is limited. Please call 540-923-4231 for reservations.
Pick you own apples fresh from the trees as long as they last. Varieties include: Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Stayman, York, Winesap, Mutsu, Fuji, Granny Smith, Rome, and Empire.
At our Packing Shed, located in Syria, across the street from Syria Mercantile, you can also select pre-picked apples to suit your tastes or purchase pumpkins, gourds, cider and Indian corn.
