There are several outfitters and fly rod shops specializing in mountain stream fly fishing on the Rapidan and Rose Rivers in Shenandoah National Park - three of them -  Middle Rive Outfitters, Murray's Fly Shop and Graves Mountain Farm & Lodges Guiding are thought to be the best for the learning the mountain rivers fishing.

Murray's Fly Fishing shop is excellent with deep experience, but the shop is over in Shenandoah Valley and focuses on the river and streams there, while it is actually Graves Mountain Farm and Lodges that hosts the lessons and clinics at their Main Lodge in Syria VA. All classes start at Graves Mountain Farm & Lodges, so Graves Mountain is the place to spend the night and get your meals. Also, when considering with whom to learn, Murray's does not have access to the mile of Rose River and Upper Rose River that is the Graves Mountain private and semi-private water.

Middle River Outfitters guide throughout Northern, Central Virginia and Shenandoah Valley. They cam also guide into the Rapidan.  They are well respected and know to Graves Mountain. They also do not have access to the mile of Rose River and Upper Rose River that is the Graves Mountain private and semi-private water. Graves Mountain Farm & Lodges Fly Fishing Guiding, Lessons, and Clinics
The fly fishing learning program is considered excellent. The guide is able to focus numbers of folks, travel to the Rapidan or Upper Rose for learning how to fish for the native trout.

When the Rapidan is over-fished, the guide will take the clients to the Upper Rose private waters.
