Four defined routes to start you off along the Blue Ridge of VA by Shenandoah National Park, through farm fields, up steep wooded climbs on little traveled lanes, by streams, through fords, by cattle, hayfields and old farmhouses.

Etlan 14 or 23 Miler:

This ride isn’t long but the climb between Etlan & Syria is challenging. Do it in re-verse and you’ll have an extreme challenge less than 2 miles into the ride. 750 or 1500 feet of climbing in this short ride.

  1. Turn R. onto 670/Old Blue Ridge Turnpike for 3 miles
  2. In Criglersville turn L. on Poorhouse Rd for 2.6 miles
  3. Turn L. on 231/Blue Ridge Turnpike to Etlan for 2.8 miles
  4. Turn L. on Etlan Rd for 4.4 miles
  5. Option 1: Turn R. on Weakley Hollow Rd for 4.5 miles to White Oak Canyon lot and turn around to head back to Syria
  6. Option 2: Turn L. on Weakley Hollow Rd for 1/4 mile to Syria.
  7. Turn R. and return to Graves Mountain Lodge.

Tri County 35 Miler:

This ride begins like the Madison 40 miler but then turns North into Culpeper and Rappahannock Counties. Challenging hills for a total of 2300 feet of climbing.

  1. Turn out onto 670/Old Blue Ridge Turnpike for 3.9 miles
  2. Turn R. onto 231/FT Valley Road
  3. Go a half mile & turn L. on 609 Hoover Road
  4. Go for 1.8 miles & turn R. on 603/Hebron Valley Road
  5. Go 1.1 miles & turn L. on Towles Road
  6. After 1.8 miles cross Hoover Rd onto 604/Arrington Mountain Road
  7. 604 becomes606/Novum Road, after 2 miles & after 3.7 miles turns R. on 607/Ridgeview Road for 1.3 miles
  8. Turn L. onto Oakland Rd for 2.2 miles
  9. Turn L. onto Reva Rd for 3 miles
  10. Turn L. onto Slate Mills Rd for 4.75 miles
  11. Turn L. onto 231/Blue Ridge Turnpike for .4 miles
  12. Turn R. onto Peola Mills Rd for .4 miles
  13. Turn R. onto Nethers Rd for 1.4 miles
  14. Turn L. onto Champ Plaine Rd for 2.7 miles
  15. Turn R. onto 231/Blue Ridge Turnpike for .7 miles
  16. Turn R. onto Etlan Rd for 4.4 miles
  17. Turn L. onto Weakley Hollow Rd for 3/4 of a mile to Syria
  18. Turn R. into Graves Mountain Lodge
